If you live in Southern California, the Thousand Oaks Farmers’ Market is definitely one to check out! I visited this week with a friend and loved it! We had so much fun talking to all the vendors, trying the different foods, and buying fun goodies to take home! My favorite finds were non-GMO, organic yellow watermelon, yellow raspberries, delicious honey dates, and homemade spicy beet chips!
Buying from local organic farmers is so important for you and your body, for the farmer, for the economy, and for the earth! Plus, farmers’ markets are so much fun and make for the perfect summer outing! 🙂
Fun Fruity Fact: 1 cup of raspberries contains a third of the daily recommended value of fiber. Fiber helps slow the breakdown of carbohydrates, keeping you fuller longer and maintaining a more stable blood sugar. Also, while red watermelon contains the antioxidant lycopene, yellow watermelon’s main antioxidant is beta carotene, which the body converts to Vitamin A. This helps protects against disease and infection.
